Degree Program

We created the Degree Program for dedicated student-athletes like yourself—individuals who have a deep desire to reach their highest potential—as a basketball player, as a leader, and as a person.

It’s the combination of ongoing learning and practical application over an extended period of time that will lead to a permanent transformation in your game, in your leadership abilities, and in every aspect of your everyday life.

As with any good educational or training program, the requirements are rigorous, but the payoff is worth the effort that’s required.

Once you’re signed up for the degree program, there are four ways to earn the 50 credits needed to graduate with your PGC degree.

1. Attend PGC Basketball courses — There are required and elective courses.

A) Required Courses:

  • Essentials – You must complete this 5-day, 4-night summer course (10 credits) or the online course (5 credits)
  • Think The Game – You must complete this 5-day, 4-night summer course (10 credits)

B) Elective Courses: Any 5-day, 4-night course (10 credits) or any 2-day course (3 credits)

2. Complete PGC’s Shooting Assignments — 2.5 credits each

There are two required shooting proficiency assignments — Free Throw Shooting and 3-Point Shooting.

  • Free Throw Shooting Assignment – With a witness present, you must make at least 70 out of 100 consecutive free throws if you’re in high school, or 80 out of 100 free throws if you’re in college.  You can try as many times as you like, but you won’t receive credit for this assignment until you hit the goal.
  • 3-Point Shooting Assignment – With a witness present, you must make at least 25 out of 50 three-point shots if you’re in high school, or 30 out of 50 three-point shots if you’re in college.  As with the Free Throw assignment, you can try as many times as needed in order to reach the goal.

To earn credits for these assignments, print off a chart above, complete the assignment, and email your completed assignment to info@pgcbasketball.com. We will email you to confirm that your credits have been applied.

3. Complete PGC’s Reading Assignments — 2.5 credits each

There are two required reading assignments and three recommended reading assignments:

While reading any of the books, you’ll want to keep a notebook close by so that you can write down notes whenever you discover something that you can apply to your game or your life.  The required books were not intended to be read chronologically though—jump around to different chapters based on what’s relevant to you. Just be sure to highlight chapter titles after you read each chapter, until every chapter in the book is highlighted.

When you’ve finished reading each book, you will need to turn your notes into a two-page summary of what you’ve learned and submit that summary to info@pgcbasketball.com. You will then either receive your credits or receive coaching from us on how you can improve your work so that you can re-submit your paper.

4. Complete 30-Day Challenges — 2.5 credits each.

To earn your PGC degree, you must complete Challenges in the following four areas:

A)  Ball-Handling — Handling Pressure OR Tennis Ball Handling Challenge
B)  Finishing — Outside-Inside Finishes OR Sweep-Over Finishes Challenge
C)  Explosion — Explosion & Core Challenge
D)  Shooting — Boom 1-2 Challenge

Although these are the required Challenges, credits are earned for ALL other completed Basketball and Life Challenges. Every time you complete a 30-Day Challenge, scan and email your completed chart to info@pgcbasketball.com to receive your credits.

How The Degree Program Works

The only time you can enroll in PGC Basketball’s degree program is when you sign up for a 5-day, 4-night summer course or a 2-day short course. There is a one-time fee of $75 to enroll in the degree program, but you’ll receive a 10% discount on ALL future PGC summer courses (which means that you’ll make back the entire enrollment fee when you register for your next summer course).

Once you’ve enrolled, we will track your progress along with you and will answer any questions that you have regarding courses, assignments, and 30-day challenges.  (If you need a copy of our degree program ‘welcome packet and tracker,’ click here). Upon completion of the requirements for your degree, you will receive a graduation certificate from PGC.

Can I Earn Credits for Completed Courses & Challenges?

YES! If you have previously attended summer courses with PGC, you will receive full credit for each course that you completed. Also, if you choose to repeat a course that you’ve successfully completed, you can receive another 10 credits for completing the course again.

If you have already read one of the PGC books, you can receive your credits after you submit a two-page summary. If you have already completed Online Training 30-Day Challenges, you will receive credits towards your PGC degree for each completed 30-Day Challenge chart you submit.
